Before every Big Monthly Dance, we offer an hour and a half Technique Clinic on changing topics. These popular clinics are designed for those who already know swing dance basics to work on and improve specific aspects of their dance-ability including musicality, leading and following, frame and connection, momentum and more.

HITTING THE BREAKS! Mastering Musicality for Swing Dancers

Do you dance to the music? Or are you just doing your moves? The fact is if you are not dancing to the music, you are not really dancing. Musicality goes beyond knowing whether the song is fast or slow, it is being able to listen for changes in the music that you can use to enhance your dance.

In this clinic you will learn:

+ How to understand song structure, rhthm and tempo.

+ How to predict something will happen in the music so you can catch it with your movement

+ What to do when there is a “break” in the music.

+ How to match your moves to what you are hearing, so that you cans “see” the music in your dancing.

What do you listen for to enhance your dance-ability? One of the greatest dancers we knew, the fabulous Dawn Hampton would bring the house down with the stroke of her finger at the exact moment the music called for it. This clinic will be a hear, feel and move clinic so others can see the music in your dancing.
